5 Things Your Web Designer REALLY Thinks About Working With You

The Confessions of a Web Designer:

Dear Design Client,

There are a few things that I want to make known, and I think that you should hear. I haven’t been able to vocally express this to you, but I want you to know how I and other designers feel whenever we work with you. So here it is, 5 Things Your Designer Really Thinks About Working With You.

1. We love that you know what you do and don’t like. You may call it “being picky”, but we call it “being clear on what you love”. Working with clients who are detailed and are able to effectively communicate what they do and don’t like are a dream come true. Why? Because you can effectively convey what you want, you make our jobs a lot easier. You help us to save time and design fast. There’s no guessing games. No constant re-do’s. Just straight and too the point. We love this about you!

2. We love when you ask questions. As designers, we love when you reach out with questions that you have. And we want you to know that there are no stupid questions. If there’s something you don’t have the answer to, just ask! As the experts, we’re more than happy to give you clarity to put your mind as ease.

3. We love when you’re brutally honest. PLLLEASE. It is OK, no… it’s GREAT when you are honest with us. In fact, it’s a must! Without you sharing your honest opinion during our time together, we will never know if we should change or tweak something to your liking. The last thing we want is for you not to be satisfied because you were afraid to speak up for fear of hurting our feelings… (trust me, you won’t hurt our feelings). If you ever find that there is something that you don’t like, be honest and vocal about it. Don’t forget to share your constructive feedback so that we know how we can change the design to make it better.

4. We don’t hate you or think you’re annoying. This goes back to #2. If you have questions feel free to ask. Also, we don’t think you’re annoying if you get excited and think of more designs that you would like to hire us for. If there’s additional work that you would like to work on outside of our contract, compile a list together and ask us for a quote. This will help to minimize any back and forth that may delay completion of our project deadline. We love meeting deadlines + fast turn around time! The only thing that we designers hate is when people try to haggle our prices down… not cool. Designing is hard work, and it takes time. If you want a one way ticket to “Not-our-favorite-client-Ville”, do this.

5. We think you’re amazing, because you’re our client. Some people call it a match made in Heaven… but we love to think of it as WE SIMPLY LOVE YOU! Our work, is literally one of your favorite things… so much that you’ve trusted us with the privilege of designing for you, and creating visuals that will represent you and your business. So to that… we give you a giant virtual hug, and say THANK YOU!

So next time you have the fear of asking a “stupid” question, being “too” honest, or not voicing your opinion if something isn’t right… DON’T BE. Be you, because those are the qualities that we designers love the most.
