The Making of RandoWhale [ Brand Design / Logo Presentation ]

RandoWhale is the gambling whale of Steemit. If you want your post getting an extra push, then send 2 Steem Dollars to it along with your post's link. Depending how Randowhale feels you get a random upvote from 1-50%.

The concept of the logo comes from the movie Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas. The story is oddly amusing and it involves a little bit of everything really. Here are the variations I came up with after taking into consideration some of the..happenings that might or might not have taken place in Steemit.

I really like the Hunter. S. Thompson design! His illustrator and close friend Ralph Steadman has some amazing art pieces! I actually have a painting by Ralph called "Aspen Nights" tattooed on my arm!

We are all selling something == PROPOSITION A
We are all disgusting == PROPOSITION B

Does PROPOSITION A imply PROPOSITION B ?

No, it only does for 'WEAPON SELLING', or 'HUMAN SLAVE SELLING', or many other things, including 'VOTE SELLING ON STEEM'.

I can prove it easy by giving examples. Is selling food in a restaurant disgusting? No, it's legit because everyone likes eating out once in a while. Is a software developer disgusting because he sells you software? Not either.

Your @randowhale bot is disgusting because you monetize your votes (which are worth a lot because 600k delegated SP). A faithful steem user would curate normally and try to reward good content, not people who send 2 SBD.

people monetize everything in life. every. single. thing.

Perhaps you haven't realized it yet but Steemit is not only about posts. It is about the entire ecosystem much like any other economy.

I like how you made it random. It looks less like vote selling this way. But it still is. Especially if you use the tool a lot, it really doesnt matter at all thats its random on the long run.

I know what you mean by 'people monetize everything'. But I want STEEM to prosper. I believe what you are doing to be very toxic for STEEM.

If more SP gets delegated to you (or other whales start doing the same), then the trending page will end up being controlled by bots, and virtually as long as its worth it for authors, they will keep paying your fee, even if you raise it -> slowly syphoning the author rewards for yourself/whales.

Just like past exploits that baited people for upvote (steemsports etc), your exploit will have to be eliminated in the future.

Everything around us prospers because the community gives value. If people decide that Randowhale adds value then prosperity is ensured.

I started earning good a year after I joined Steemit. I saw the front page change more times than you can imagine.

Amazing designs for sure. But out of all designs, that Psychedelic design surely has it's own charm and mysticism. As for using randowhale, I really want to use it for my next vote. It's just that I have been hearing a lot that it's not very profitable. In most cases it doesn't even break even. But still, I would give it a try as soon as I have 2 SBD. :)

I really love these hand drawn type of logos. Very nice work. Do you use an Ipadpro to sketch? I've been thinking I can step my designing game if I got one.

Oh, man, @randowhale has been such a great initiative for the community! I don't know how anyone could hate it. I'm doing something similar to RandoWhale...but on a much smaller scale.
I upvote and comment on posts that people are specifically looking for upvotes and comments on!
Simple idea.
I invest weekly in my SteemPower, and will gradually build up a formidable upvote! Except I won't charge anything!...just a vote for my post is all it takes.
