Design duo Chad and Courtney Ludeman renovated a New Jersey residence in New Jersey, transforming it into a warm, comfortable cabin for long winter nights.
The wood frame residence dates from the 1960s and has been renovated by the Ludeman to serve as a private pavilion and rural alternative to their Lokal Hotel in Philadelphia. Located in the woods about 50 minutes drive from the city and 20 minutes from the nearby coastal towns, this cabin is a good way to escape the city for a weekend in winter as in summer. Comprising a double height atrium, the building can accommodate eight people and can be booked on Airbnb. To emphasize the original construction of the house, the existing beams are painted in matt black to contrast with the honey-colored plywood. The pine plywood panels hide the new insulation that has been installed. A concrete countertop extends 13m from the front door to the back of the house, with black cabinets below.

What a gorgeous cabin, I would love to stay in a place like this, looks super cosy and relaxing. Not sure if we will get to New Jersey anytime soon lol.

The use of wood textures in the whole cabin, gave it a luxurious look while having a comfy vibe. Providing a touch of different materials also gave a nice contrast to the whole interior. Good example on integration of modern and rustic design.

I love the attention to simple details and materials! I also love how the grittiness of the plywood sheathing and concrete counters juxtapose with the sleek fixtures and equipment. Thanks for sharing!
