Steem-Powered Aspirations

Throughout the early summer, I worked closely with @hitheryon to facilitate the implementation of STEEM Park at the park I consult - Herbert von King (HvK) Park in Bedford-Stuyvesant Brooklyn. After the successful completion, the founders asked me to join @sndbox in order to continuously share and support the progress as the park. I started @mintvilla to dedicate to this work and also use it as a resource to gather precedents and experiences that may be relevant.

So today, after being on Steemit for about 2 months and working closely with the @sndbox team and community, I’m excited to launch the next stage of HvK!

A Graphic Future for STEEM Park

The next major stage that I’ve been working on with the conservancy founder and the group’s stakeholders is fundraise for and implement a main public sign for the park. It may be a literally small component of the park but it serves as the most powerful tool to lay the foundation for future development and tie the community together.

As of yet, there are no signs around the park - nothing instructional, nothing educational in the way of historical facts or community stories, and nothing that gives the park any explicit identity. STEEM Park was actually the first instance of anything that revealed bits of the park’s history.

The sign will include a site map, behavior guidelines, historic information

The sign will also incorporate a QR link to the park’s Soundcloud page with a playlist of audial histories. I invited long-time residents of the park to record segments of the park’s legacy and visitors will be able to freely access them around the world and while strolling through the local asset.

Big journeys start with small steps @natureofbeing! Thank you for the support =)

Good job @mintvilla

I always follow you.
Because you are offering leaflets at the level
Keep going

I've seen a few posts about this and love the idea and your implementation. I think you should use your 5th tag for "Brooklyn" for the search engines so more people will find out what you are doing. Upvoted, resteemed and tweeting :)

That's a wonderful idea and I never thought to consider it. Thank you for the support!! This is why I love the Steemit community and getting valuable feedback~

You're welcome! I am very happy to watch you succeed!

The park will be reborn as a nice space with stories. :)

Very cool!! I love the idea of adding a QR code for the audio tour. One capability of QR codes is to integrate them with Google Analytics, which would let you track how many people are visiting the park; you could also provide an option to integrate with Facebook/Twitter, and then you could not only get detailed demographic information about visitors but also invite them to collaborate with direct communication. Another idea would be to use them in serialization, where each portion of the park has a unique code, and then using that (anonymized) data, you would be able to track a visitor's path throughout the park, giving you insight into how people are using the park/which aspects are most engaging. There are important privacy/anonymity policies that should be in place, but strengthening the link between offline and online spaces will be an interesting point for a park like this (potential to partner with an AR agency as well).

I want to join Sndbox too. I see you are doing a good job
