Australian designers and architects Dan Gayfer Design have recently completed this modern home inspired by local ranches. The dwelling is located on the hills of Ceres, a small town southwest of Melbourne, Australia.
The rural house has been designed for a family with four children who love sports, agriculture and horse riding. Arriving at the house, there is a path that leads to the front door. Inside, the main living room is open with a majestic cedar-clad ceiling and floor-to-ceiling windows offering 180-degree views of the surrounding land. At one end of the living room is the kitchen and the dining room. The open wooden shelves contrast with the white walls, while a large wooden island holds six people. The dining table and chairs separate the kitchen from the living room, and the fireplace is the focal point of the room.
Going up from the main room is a living room with an integrated shelf to house the television. Large windows offer views of the landscape and the outdoor pool. Next to the pool is a wraparound terrace that follows the shape of the house and offers an outdoor living area and a kitchen area with barbecue. Back inside, there is a corridor that separates the different wings of the house and leads to the rooms. Large windows add natural light to the hallway with American oak flooring. One of the bedrooms has a large window that perfectly frames the view, while a wooden bench has been built to create a space to sit and relax.
