To celebrate its 30th anniversary, WADA Sports is moving to its new flagship store and headquarters in Himeji. This new building is also a studio for Wada Bari technology, a brand-specific racket line technology.
The interior of the store is marked by a metallic structure in the shape of an ellipse. This design exploits this structure to transform it into a gigantic display rack for snowshoes. Below the elliptical structure, the rackets are aligned in a presentation rack originally designed for this store. The rackets are arranged in series so that you can take them in hand one by one, very easily. This allows the customer to examine them closely and feel the difference in grip, thickness and weight.
Above, the ellipse is used as a presentation medium for different collection snowshoes from all over Japan: vintage wooden snowshoes, those used by famous sportsmen and snowshoes that were miraculously found after the great earthquake of Tohoku in 2011. This collection of valuable snowshoes transforms the interior of the store into a museum.
This new building is not only a celebration of WADA Sports' thirty years of history, it is also a modern Noah's Ark transmitting the culture of racket sports to future generations.
