How Bernard Poolman Enslaved Humanity

Those who are familiar with Desteni and the story of Bernard Poolman may have heard the phrase "None are free until all are free." This means that we are all stuck on this planet with its rampant war, poverty, child abuse, rape, famine, and personal issues ranging from lack of money to unfulfilling relationships until that time when everyone is given equal access to the shared resources of earth. Despite the solutions given for personal work and system change, nothing has changed on that front as a visit to a ghetto or warzone would show.

What people may be unfamiliar with is how we got in this predicament. It would seem that there is nobody forcing you to do anything and yet everywhere we face limitation. Bernard Poolman is responsible for this. He enslaved humanity and actually all of existence in a single moment and we are all experiencing the repercussions.

Considering the actual true nature of freedom inherent in each one, Bernard discovered by walking what is best for all in every moment, he was actually able to take on every abusive point in existence. By excercising his own freedom to walk as what's best for all, no matter what that means or looks like, he is able to ensure that all abusive points are brought to their eventual end.

Thus, by expressing himself as assistance and support for the end of abuse within existence and humanity, he is able to bring all beings into limitation. Yes, that's right, he enslaved us all.

He wasn't the first one to do it, and the systems of banking and government that control humanity are remnants of past structures of enslavement.

The difference between Bernard's enslavement and the previous iteration is that, this time, we've actually enslaved ourselves. In choosing self-interest and separation as our little mind-bubbles of spite, we've attempted to find and keep bliss among the horrors of our fellow beings. We may enjoy pointing fingers at the so-called leaders in government and finance for creating the world the way it is, but given the opportunity most of us would choose to pursue our own personal happiness at the expense of those suffering. It is exactly these types of choices that create the world the way it is today, is it not?

And so, Bernard stood up within a moment and stated, "Til here no further." What we're left with is the reality (whether we allow ourselves to realize it or not) that we aren't truly free as we seek self interest as the personalities we identify with within our own minds. No matter what concessions we manage to wrestle from earth, pretending what's here is not given freely and equally for all, we aren't satisfied. We must manipulate and lie and cheat even our friends, families, and coworkers in order to secure a larger piece of the pie. But if these are the steps we must take just to secure a decent life, are we truly free?

Can we ever be truly free while our equals as the other beings with which we share reality suffer unimaginably at the hands of a system they can't control and don't even fully understand?

But that's the compassion of Desteni; by offering the tools to change ourselves and the world, Desteni is saying we can break free of the ties that bind even ourselves into systems we don't prefer, if only we are willing to give to others as we would like for ourselves. By trapping us into our own creations of limitation and abuse, we are given the ability and the choice to overcome these limitations and claim our freedom within oneness and equality; within such infinite and unlimited expression freedom is available.
