Keep Austin Wierd

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Austin Texas, this is their unofficial city slogan. In short, Austin is a really ‘cool’ place. I am not talking about the climate, but rather the state of mind of the people who live there.

The climate is pleasant most of the year. It can become very hot in the summer. My son who lives there owns a boat. He frequents Lake Austin when the water is warm. He and his friends do a lot of wake boarding. Wake boarding is surfing on the big wave caused by the boat. Joe’s boat has special design tools to create a bigger wave behind the boat. The surfer is able to catch this wave using a tow rope. After he is on the wave, he can toss the rope into the boat an continue to ride along on the wave behind the boat.

Austin has mild winters. This region seldom sees snow or ice.

Austin is home to the University of Texas. There is a large population of young people who bring their semi-foolish opinions to town. But most of us old guys benefit from the exposure.

Bicycle paths ar very common. Frequently citizens wear skin tight cycling outfits to take a daily bicycle trip to stay in good physical shape.

Austin women are mostly beautiful people. In my experience, Austin is blessed with an abundance of pretty women.
