Er glänzte in vielen Rollen und nicht nur auf deutschen Schauspielbühnen. Als Schauspieler von Welt brillierte Bruno Ganz zunehmend seit den 70er Jahren und bis ins hohe Alter in zahlreichen Filmrollen. Ein Klassiker ist die Zusammenarbeit mit Wim Wenders als Engel Damiel in "Der Himmel über Berlin".
Mit dem Zauber und der besonderen Kraft leiser Töne machte er Filme wie diesen zu etwas Besonderem. Die große Schauspielkunst, seine unverwechselbare Stimme, sind von nun an Geschichte, doch es bleiben Bild und Ton erhalten.
