CyberCode Twins created a Skill Set called Intro Steemit on Amazon Alexa

in developer •  9 years ago  (edited)

What? Latinas can code and kick bots too!

Is the voice-app free?

Yes.

How do I upload this?

You can add a skill set to your amazon alexa device by saying "Enable Intro Steemit",
but not right now as Intro Steemit is currently on pending certification as we just submitted it today.

What is Pending certification?

They are reviewing it and when it is finished, it will be release to public the moment it's certified.

Where can I upload the skill set to?

  • You can download an amazon alexa app on your phone.
  • You have an amazon device like amazon echo
  • other devices connected to amazon alexa

Do you get paid for this?

Nope because this should be free to give access to more people. So, please support your local steemians developers ;)

Why did the CyberCode Twins created this?

There are less than 2,500 skill set on the amazon skill set. There are very few developers that knows how to create them. Why not make skills sets that matters to people?

There are going to be a smart home device in every home for those that need or want one. So, why not have them have access to know about steemit? Amazon devices are very popular and people are trying out every skill set on Amazon Alexa. Now that there is less friction to add skills to your device, this is gonna blow up.

Check out techcrunch article that released a few weeks ago.

How many echo devices are there?

Aren't there other cyrptocurrency apps on the alexa?

There are skill sets there for cryptocurrency and blockchain but there is no specific mention of steem or steemit. So, we decided to go for it as we thought it would help support the community. Besides, It's cooler to have voice-enable apps and awesome bots.

So hope this is an incredible development and marketing skill that impresses @dantheman @cryptoctopus @pfunk @stellabelle @donkeypong @steemrollin

What Intro Steemit can do now?

what is steemit?
what is a blockchain?
What is cryptocurrency?
how important is steemit?
why should I join?
how do I join?
Where can I see my voting power?
Where can I see my rep score?
What with the sea creatures name?
how do I convert steem into steem power?
what a steem? what a steem power, what a steem dollar?
who should join?
Give me an example of what is steemit?
read the steem paper to me (that's 44 pages long )
and more!!!

*Please read the instructions or tell alexa to help to give you what questions you can say as well if you feel lost.

Do comment below on what else would you like to add onto Intro Steemit :)

Yes, there are more questions you can ask intro steemit. That video was just a sneak peak on what you can do. You can check it when it's certified and there are list of questions and commands you can ask the intro steemit on alexa.
ex: who the heck cheetah is?
ex: what are the latest rules?
ex: I can finally read - no wait, listen to the 44 white pages of Steem.

p.s yes that headline with the pun was intended ;) butts but bots.

How did you learn this?

Two months ago, America and I learned it at a hackathon at AngelHack in Santa Monica. They were also teaching developers about Amazon Alexa and how to make a custom skill set. We created our first custom skill set. We did one for Airbnb hosts called airbnb my butler. You can check out on our facebook to check out the ongoing process.

What other skill sets you made?

The airbnb butler is our first one. Intro Steemit is our 2nd!!!

Anything awesome you both are up to?

HACKcelerator
Found out we were offered to an HACKcelerator program by AngelHack. This was our 1st custom skill set we ever did. Still in shock we were picked: http://www.hackathon.io/66043

M.I.T
America going to M.I.T bootcamp to intro to blockchain and cryptocurrency on August 25th for one week. She wants to arrange a Steemit Meetup as there is now one in LA and hopefully SF as well. She would like to share what she learned when she comes back.

San Francisco Trip --- August 16 to 18
Also we will be up in San Francisco from august 16-18 for presenting at IDF for our demo project called Beacon of Hope as well. Like we said, girls can kick bots and tech too ;) Do hope to see all you steemians at SF soon.

There is an amazon alexa app that downloads skills
on your phone.

Thanks. Yes I read it in your post. I'm afraid I'm old fashioned about these things. I don't even use Siri on my Iphone I feel kind of embarrassed about talking to my phone lol!

This was thorough!!! Good luck with this project! My Web Design teacher was a woman; I call her Master Yoda :) - girls absolutely can CODE and kick bots! lol - again good luck
