SchoolMan is built to aid schools and institutions in various levels of office computation & much more.
This blog, #SchoolMan, will be updated frequently with the issues and developments on the app.
The SchoolMan project is not open source and code visibility will be restricted to necessary cases only. Screenshots and unit prototypes may be used, amongst others, to explain certain aspects of the system or concepts applied.
Your suggestions and contributions are needed for the growth of the app. SchoolMan is written in JavaSE, and C/C++ translation is ongoing. Sqlite is used for database.

It's beautiful to see 👁 this #schoolman project gradually come to limelight. I'm trying to understand what exactly you mean by 'office computation'. Does it mean a database for entering & storing students' grades? Secondly, I'm curious to know what makes #schoolman different from the regular MS Excel. Keep on developing great apps, @gregjava!

Thank you ma'am.
SchoolMan offers more than a database for storing scores. Though, we cannot be compared to MS Excel at all yet! Microsoft is a giant corporation with powerful applications of great strength and depth in computation.
However, in that lies our advantage as we constantly seek to maintain a lightweight structure and watch our computational speeds for maximal efficiency. We hope to keep SchoolMan's final structure less than 20MB (in spite of external libraries and images). The prototype is currently appreciably on the southern side of 5MB. On the App Size graph in this post, you might notice a sudden drop in size of app just before it began to slope upwards again. This drop marks our redundancy-check period during which we tried to improve the algorithm of the system to make it faster still (both in computation & response).
MS Excel is useful for a wide range of purposes ranging from mathematical through accounting computations. We are focused on improving computations within learning institutions. We assist the institution in data storage and offer results and other computational data based on the stored data. For example, an institution can tell if their class performance in a particular class is reducing or increasing from the Class Average history. With this, school administrators can monitor the performance of a class teacher or subject teacher.
When MS Excel was built, the primary focus was not on the social uses of the computer. Nowadays, the internet has become an extremely powerful tool for realtime communication. SchoolMan offers its users an opportunity to have realtime conversations with their friends and colleagues in its Chat Room. Direct and secure messaging between users will also be possible.
We are just humble beginners with a dream to serve foundational learning in as many ways as we can.
