Spiritual devotion: Fear the LORD your God, serve him only and take your oaths in his name. Deuteronomy 6:13

The spiritual life in man begins with the fear of God, so the Lord taught this truth to Moses when God spoke through the fire: "Oh, that their hearts would be inclined to fear me and keep all my commands always, so that it might go well with them and their children forever!" Deuteronomy 5:29.
The fear of God is a very special gift because it establishes a filial relationship with God, through this gift we flatly reject the temptation to sin. And all the patriarchs, such as Abraham and Jacob, and also the prophets such as Samuel, Daniel, and Isaiah, testified to this spiritual gift.
Just as God is good, merciful, and faithful, the creator of all things also demands the same of us. That is why God warned Moses that the law was important to inherit God's blessings, but more important than the law is to fear God with all the heart. The fear of God has an important practical sense because it provides us with the common sense to correctly apply all the law. The fear of God is constancy, firmness, devotion, equanimity, and stability.
For all this, the Lord warned the Israelites not to forget him after their arrival in Canaan:
"When the LORD your God brings you into the land he swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, to give you—a land with large, flourishing cities you did not build, houses filled with all kinds of good things you did not provide, wells you did not dig, and vineyards and olive groves you did not plant—then when you eat and are satisfied, be careful that you do not forget the LORD, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.
Fear the LORD your God, serve him only and take your oaths in his name" Deuteronomy 6:10-13.
