Today's Scripture

To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman. Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids. (Proverbs 6:25-26)

Thoughts for Today

Man looks at the outward appearance but God looks at the heart. A person could dress good on the outside but inside their heart, they may hide all sorts of evil within and we do not know about it.

Therefore when choosing a spouse, we ought to seek the Lord in this matter. We should not go after a person for their appearance or their smooth talk. No matter how charming they may be, we should not get carried away by their charming appearance.

Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Proverbs 31:30

But rather put more importance on the character of the person. By observing their character, we could tell if their heart is in line with God's word or not. We judge a tree by the fruits they bear, the same as a person. We can tell what is stored inside their hearts through what comes out from them.

As a man or a woman of God, we are supposed to not focus so much on the outward appearance of a person but rather look at the inward workings of their heart. It may get very tricky especially when we get attracted to someone through their appearance. Usually, we are drawn to someone through their charms, but we need to examine further their character beneath them. We need to search for Godly values within them, see how they treat others around them, see how they treat their family. See how they value God in their lives. Check and see if their values in line with your values.

Importantly, seek Godly counsel when choosing a spouse. Pray and ask God for wisdom, ask and you will receive it. :)

Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
We ask for your wisdom in this deceptive world. Help us to be wise sermons and harmless as a dove. Show us your plans for us in our lives, lead us to the right people, and not wolves under sheep's clothing. Lead us to people that will encourage us and grow our faith too. Lead us to warriors of your kingdom. We thank You and praise You. We ask this in Your Precious Name, Jesus. Amen!
