En realidad existe varios factores que nos pueden ayudar a presentar variabilidad en los niveles de glicemia (azucar) en los pacientes diabeticos a continuación mencionaremos:
- Vida Sedentaria, el ejercicio físico es fundamental como parte del tratamiento no farmacológico ayudando a la estimulacion de las células del pancreas a producir mayor cantidad de insulina, lo cual favorece a controlar los niveles de glicemia.
- Cumplimiento de la terapéutica: El uso de Insulina o de Hipoglicemiantes Orales deben ser constantemente modificada por el medico en base a los hábitos alimentarios y actividad física del paciente, para evitar Hipoglicemias (Baja de azúcar) o Hiperglicemia (Azúcar Elevada)
- Indice Glicemico, su conocimiento permite a los diabeticos identificar cuales alimentos no producen alteracion en sus niveles, y cuales si. Evidentemente esto solo funciona cumpliendo con los requerimientos nutricionales en cada comida en base a las proporciones de: Carbohidratos, Proteínas y Vegetales que se establezcan.
En este punto tenemos que indicar que existe unos rangos que nos permiten establecer si un alimentos nos favorece: si el rango es < 55 (No eleva los niveles de glicemia), > 70 (Eleva demasiado los niveles de glicemia, Prohibido, NO PUEDES CONSUMIRLOS) y todos aquellos que esten entre 55 - 70 (En este rango estan la mayoria de las frutas y alimentos por lo que tener un menu estrictamente diseñado a los requerimientos de cada persona, nos permitira combinar estos alimentos sin que estos nos eleven demasiado nuestros niveles de glicemia).
- Automonitoreo: El Glucometro (aparato para medir niveles de glicemia capilar), es lo que permite un mejor control de las glicemias de los pacientes con una diferencia de 20% comparada con la glicemia obtenida en los laboratorio. Su uso con cintas reactivas en mal estado o vencidas puede generar falsos resultados QUE CONLLEVAN A ESTADOS DE ANGUSTIAS EN ALGUNOS PACIENTES.
En conclusión, todos estos factores confluyen y pueden generar variaciones en los niveles de glicemias, teniendo como valores optimos de un control: Glicemia en Ayunas entre 70 y 100 mg/dl y Glicemia Post-Pandrial (despues de 2 horas): < 140 mg/dl.
