TYPES OF DIABETES

Two types of diabetes are often confused. Although both types of diabetes cause an increase in blood sugar levels, both occur for very different reasons.

TYPE 1 DIABETES is an autoimmune problem. Your body destroys insulin-producing cells in the pancreas and prevents insulin production. People with type 1 diabetes have to use insulin injections throughout their lives.

TYPE 2 DIABETES occur when the body cannot produce enough insulin and / or the insulin produced does not work effectively. Type 2 diabetes can be managed with a healthy diet and regular physical activity. However, it usually requires medication.
