Diatomaceous earth
Diatomaceous earth /ˌdaɪ.ətəˌmeɪʃəs ˈɜːrθ/, also known as D.E., diatomite, or kieselgur/kieselguhr, is a naturally occurring, soft, siliceous sedimentary rock that is easily crumbled into a fine white to off-white powder. It has a particle size ranging from less than 3 micrometres to more than 1 millimetre, but typically 10 to 200 micrometres.
Basicly alot of insects have a excoskelton (bones on the outside of there bodies) and the d.e. cuts them open and there insides dry up. I have heared of some people eating food grade d.e. to kill parisites in there bodies. Farmers can use food grade d.e. in the nesting boxes of there chickens (to kill mites) it keeps the flies at bay, and it can be sprinkled on the back of your pet (to kill fleas and ticks)
