Does the food you eat have an effect on your brain? Yes, it does! The brain is the most sensitive organ in the body, and it reacts to any insults immediately. Unfortunately, the insults I'm talking about aren't just verbal. Insults can range from not getting enough sleep at night, drinking a soft drink containing High Fructose Corn Syrup, eating conventionally grown strawberries, to arguing with our spouse/boss/children/friends/etc.

Save your brain, people and stop insulting it by doing things that are controllable. The biggest being the food that you eat everyday.

Toxic foods are the some of the biggest insults to our brains, and there are two that are more than likely lurking in your kitchen now. If so, go throw them away! They are:

HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP (HFCS):

This tiny chemical is now produced in BILLIONS of pounds, with each person consuming 66 pounds per year. This type of sugar is much sweeter than sugar, but it increases appetite, promotes obesity, and is more addictive than cocaine. It is the primary sweetener found in all processed and junk foods. It's in almost everything, so read the labels! Diabetes and brain inflammation can be caused by this small chemical. If you're still not convinced, consider this: sugar and HFCS cause crusting in your brain, much like creme brulee or crispy chicken skin. This is because the sugar in these foods reacts with proteins in the body, resulting in plaques known as Advanced Gylcation End Products. This plaque clogs your brain, causing damage to the majority of cells and tissues.

TRANS OR HYDROGENATED FATS:

Man-made trans fats are found in most processed foods, baked goods, fried foods, margarine, and so on. Because of how they are made and their molecular instability, they can cause everything from increased body inflammation to disrupting basic brain functions.
