Freelee the Banana Girl's Low-Fat, High-Carb Diet Nearly Killed Me

in diet •  7 years ago  (edited)

Eating a low-fat, high-carbohydrate vegan diet nearly killed me. I was constantly in pain, experienced severe food cravings, anxiety, stomach bloating, wild mood swings, random bleeding, dizziness, hot flushes, and fatigue. I looked like hell. My hair was dry and falling out, my skin was rough and constantly breaking out, I suffered from lethargy, depression, anxiety attacks, weight gain, and never-ending sickness. I had suicidal thoughts, felt unbalanced, hated life, and just wanted to die. I was hospitalized with a pulmonary embolism which nearly killed me on July 20th, 2012 after following Freelee the Banana Girl’s and Durianrider’s unlimited calorie, high-carbohydrate vegan diet.

I am now eating a low-carb, high-fat ketogenic diet and my health is improving by the day. I look and feel like a new person. My body has been severely damaged by eating a low-fat, high-carb diet and I don’t know how long it will take for me to completely heal.

While following the diet, we’re you actually tracking your meals to make sure you were getting all the micro and macro nutrients your body needs?

Of you didn't like Freelee's diet, why to drop veganism and go to another extreme? Vegan diets can be very different, protein-rich, satiating and healthy.

I'm still vegan. What people don't understand is that being vegan does not equate to eating a low-fat/high-carb diet ("Freelee's diet"). LFHC diets were popular back in the 80's. We're in 2018 now and people are smartening up!

oh, that's a good thing =) you didn't say about it in the post, so it looks like you're promoting a general keto diet packed with meat...
I agree that Freelees stuff is not approapriate for most people, there's really no reason to avoid eating a lot of protein-packed vegan food or healthy fats

I'm eating a vegan keto diet. I'm not sure why people automatically assume that keto equates to eating a diet "packed with meat".
