This is a view from my appartement back form 2015 when I spent 2 months in Almaty Kazakhstan.
The place is my wife hometown, and it is a typical soviet city, with some new buildings and malls.
It is the old capital of Kazakhstan before Astana, and honestly there is not so much to see here!
The main beauty are the mountains very close by the urban area.
In just few minutes driving it is possible to reach very beautiful places like rivers and hike spots.
The mountains avre very high and at the end of August it is possible to see the snow on top of them already!
Very close by the center there are some interesting slopes where it is possible to ski during winter time and to enjoy the view during summer time, the area is called SHIMBULAK.
Winter time is very cold in this region, and it is possible to enjoy a lot of snow on the slopes if you are a ski or snowboard lover!
