For Digital Nomads Out There!

Hi, Everyone. I was just starting as a Remote Worker and I am based in the Philippines. I recently got hired by this e-commerce software company (mainly for jewelers) based in the US and started last November 9. The company keeps on giving delayed payments and now for the whole month of December I haven't received my payment and was terminated. I would like to know what to do when you encounter these kinds of companies/start ups? I don't think the owner of the company has any plans on giving me my payment and I have my bills on overdue.

Sorry for posting this one, but I need a little help here.

Thank you all..

It's all too common I'm afraid, and a reason why sites like upwork.com or freelancer.com do so well as they handle the admin. Now there is also utopian-io (check the hashtag here on steemit), blockchain based model where there is a record of work with no dispute.
However, general advice:

  • Don't undervalue/under-charge your service. Others are cheaper only because they are inferior. People will assume you are desperate and take advantage. Charge higher, get genuine clients.
  • Get payment upfront for milestones. Minimum 30% before commencing.

Thank you for your comment. Will take note of this for sure! :)
