Rohit's comeback in the form of Mumbai beat Kolkata Knight Riders by 13 runs

6,May2018, imageIPL's 37th match was played between Rohit Sharma's Mumbai Indians and Dinesh Karthik's Kolkata Knight Riders. Mumbai Indians, who returned to their respective matches in this match, defeated Kolkata by 13 runs on home soil.

In this match Kolkata won the toss and decided to bowl first. Earlier, batting first, Mumbai scored 181 runs losing 4 wickets in 20 overs. Kolkata needed 182 runs to win, but KKR managed to score 168 for 6 in 20 overs and they lost the match by 13 runs.

Uthappa's superb half-century

Kolkata's first wicket fell in the form of Chris Lynn, who was caught by McClenaghan at the hands of Bumrah at just 17 runs. Shubhaman Gill, who played a magnificent innings in the last match for the team, was sent as an opener in this match but he did not succeed and was caught out of the hands of Madhav Pandya on Hardik Pandya's ball just 7 runs. Robin Uthappa played a magnificent innings of 54 off 35 balls for the team. His innings ended by Mayank caught by Ben Cutting. Nitish Rana also contributed 31 runs in 27 balls but in the crucial times, he became a victim of a hearty Pandya. His catch was Jasprit Bumrah. Andre Russell was caught by Bunilah for 9 runs in the hands of Kunal Pandya. Sunil Narine scored 5 and Krishnal Pandya caught him out. Captain Dinesh Karthik tried to win the team with an unbeaten 36 runs in 26 balls, but he could not succeed in this intention.On behalf of Mumbai, Hardik Pandya got two wickets, while McLegan, Jaspreet Bumrah, Krinal Pandya and Mayank Markandey took one wicket each.

Two-wicket for Russell-Narine

Over 9 overs Kolkata had not got any success and the score had crossed 90 runs. Karthik hit Andre Russell off the ball and he gave the first breakthrough to Kolkata with the help of Mitchell Johnson, caught by Ishwin Lewis at 43 runs. Sunil Narayan has given another blow to Mumbai. Narine got Mumbai captain Rohit Sharma caught by Rinku Singh at the score of 11 runs. Subsequently, Russell gave away Suryakumar Yadav (59) to the half-century, caught by wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik. Krupal Pandya smashed 14 runs off Sunil Narine's delivery to Shubhaman Gill by scoring 14 runs. Hardik Pandya 35 and Duminy scored an unbeaten 13 runs off Mumbai Indians.
