Being physically disabled and paralyzed from my shoulders down, people usually sympathize and say they won't be able to cope if the same happened to them. But, you don't have much of a choice. Doctors will do their best to keep you alive, thus you will have little choice. A good family and friend support group also helps.
Nevertheless, there are things making life difficult. However, in my experience the difficulty is not the disability, but rather the financial and relationship parts.
Everything is expensive and income generation is hard. Yes, I know everything is expensive for everyone, however, disabled persons have to pay for chronic medication, care service and other expenses related to their disability. Normal able body persons do not have these expenses.
Finding work is difficult too, because if you can't even do simple tasks like phone calls then jobs are very limited. Thus, finding decent income jobs are even more scarce.
Having little income and high expenses, makes it hard to go out and have a social life. Thus, meet people and starting relationships are difficult too.
These are probably the two biggest frustrations I have.
They say money does not buy happiness, but it sure can make life better.
