Nice people Vs Bad experience ... ugh

So, I am a new vendor this year. I am on my 5th vending job right now and this round it's been rough... really rough. This is the First time I have sold only my homemade items and the WORST I have ever done. I keep asking myself what happened. The people that pass would comment and show a general interest. So what went wrong.

  • This was a discount children's sale
People are looking for steals! There are great ways to cash in, making wands, bubbles, selling balloons with something stenciled on, selling Cheaper items with a personal twist, I didn't do this and it was a HUGE error on my part. I could have made bank by going less personalized and more mainstream/let's make a deal. Ok, maybe not bank... It was much slower then I thought although this morning there was a study flow, Today I lowered my prices 50 percent it was painful. It's like Everything I made my time was given away.
    Another Issue
I had never Attending the Event before and was dependant on what I had heard... I had one event with similar results " although never with my lasered items" I should have learned my lesson but nope! Scope out an event before you put bank on it!
    Placement
I was put behind the girl scouts ... so cookie selling season is technically still here but most people had gotten their cookies weeks ago and avoided their table as much as possible. I had better luck when I was moved away from them.
I still have a day tomorrow that was prepaid "I spent $150.00 on booth fees". I will be making headbands and more cheapo items for ... well... cheap! I also had all my fees waived to consign which is very rare so last minute I put in some other items! The few small lasered items I had sold super well! So that's what I need to focus on "said the girl who just burnt herself with a glue gun.
    The plus side
I meet some really great people, I am a new company so connections are needed and continually appreciated. This is still a fairly new Event, which I should have figured out "Before" sign-ups, but with the venue change which they are planning later this year, it can do VERY! The gal that runs it is smart as well as her husband so I think next year has the potential to be great, I also figured out my market for this event and will change accordingly for the prep. Every struggle can be a learning lesson and boy was this one, But like I said there are really great people at the event and new connections were made. 002.JPG
