The western United States is facing heat waves and forest fires.
On Saturday 2 September, San Francisco recorded the highest temperature, which is 38 degrees Celsius. The day before, the hilly city was also experiencing the hottest day, which is 41 degrees Celsius.
The highest temperatures were also reported last Saturday in San Jose, Santa Cruz and Santa Rosa in the state of California. Similarly, as quoted from VOA Indonesia on Monday (4/9/2017).
Spokesman of the Bay Area public transport system Alicia Trost said trains were ordered to reduce speed for fear that the heat would make the metal railway expands and endangering the journey.
In Los Angeles, Mayor Eric Garcetti said the forest fire that occurred north of the city center was the largest in the city's history. Firefighters believe they can control the fires that have destroyed the two houses.
Garcetti issued an evacuation order against more than 700 houses in the city. Meanwhile, firefighters are trying to control a raging fire in a mountainous area of 20 kilometers.
Firefighters are also reportedly having trouble coping with a 22-square-kilometer fire in Yosemite National Park.
