Jesus appears to the disciples: Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed. John 20:29

Jesus is the new Adam and the new man, the gospel tells us, he is the first to rise again, he is the "son of man", the personification of God's perfections. Jesus conquers death because he is beyond all our imperfections: "Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.", Matthew 5:48.
The Gospel of John tells us that Jesus, after coming out of his tomb, meets Mary Magdalene and some disciples, but not all believe. The virtue of faith is a beatitude that is beyond all physical evidence. This is why Jesus appears a second time to confirm the faith of his disciples and shows them his wounds, the gospel tells us about this encounter:
"Now Thomas (also known as Didymus), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, ´We have seen the Lord!´
But he said to them, ´Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.´
A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, ´Peace be with you!´
Then he said to Thomas, ´Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.´
Thomas said to him, ´My Lord and my God!´
Then Jesus told him, ´Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.´", John 20:24-29.

The resurrection of Jesus is the conclusion of the physical presence of the Lord, and it is the beginning of the times of the holy spirit, the doctor par excellence of the church. Jesus blesses them, promises them the holy spirit at Pentecost (Acts 2:1-4) and sends them to be the "salt of the world", that is, to preach the good news to the world.
