The archaeologists have discovered the remains of a lost city in China that is believed to be around 4,000 years ago. Remains of a step Pyramid in the Neolithic site have been excavated in northern China by a team of researchers from Chinese and US University. The walled-city of Shimao will help archaeologist understand China's early history.
It was previously thought the walls of Shimao were part of the Great Wall of China, which was built around 2,700 years ago. Its base is 24 acres and hight is 230 ft.
The Bronze Age discoveries challenge the accepted notions of early Chinese civilization and settlement.
The city was home to complex society long before large kingdoms emerged in the country's central plains.
Archaeologists are of the opinion that the discoveries are indicative of Shimao's status as carefully constructed civilization.
