The latest case of the producer, Harvey Weinstein, got me thinking about retrospective prosecutions.
WW2 war criminals were hunted down even though some were knocking 100 years old? Sexual harassment allegations being made and investigated against Edward Heath even though the guy is long dead?
And, craziest of all, the family who want to prosecute a dead person on behalf of their daughter who is also dead!
Why, oh why can't we accept those old people who've done such crimes have probably suffered from conscience and worry about being caught for most of their lives. If they haven't, if the enjoyment they got was worth it, then prison isn't going to change them.
Old people can't repeat the crime, can they?
How do you feel about this subject?
I am so interested to hear.
