AI is just a form of statistical regression. If you don't know what that means, then try to find out what correlation means, and start from there. By the way, our human minds work like correlators. If you want to understand AI, you have to start doing some homework. But it also means that current AI is not far from KITT at all. In fact, Google has just created a BOT (an AI entity) that makes phone calls and talks to people to arrange reservations; and it sounds just like you and people think it IS you. Think about that!
