What do you think Steemit's future is and will it be a big part of Steem's future?

Background

Steemit is in financial trouble. They are taking steps to try get out of the situation. The community rallied since the announcement offering up different ideas of how to further separate ourselves from the influence of Steemit. As someone said, Steem is a decentralized blockchain with Steemit as gatekeeper.

Steemit Inc are the ones who know the code best and they have already completed a significant part of SMTs. I'd say they'd play an important part at least for a time. Until we have a robust DAPP development ecosystem we need Steemit Inc.

This was my first attempt at using discut.io.

An interesting platform.

I had some brief thoughts here . Never heard of Discut.io shall check it out.

Let's see if @ned communicates first.

Self-aggrandizing, I guess...

We are a decentralized community and should not only aim to decentralize servers but also core dev working.
An example/ proof of this idea/ concept is the witness program on our chain.
Steemit is only 1 company upon steem infrastructure.

We need someone like Dan Larimer, not another @ned. STEEM have potential, the content within the Blockchain is valuable in itself. So STEEM just need more investor and capable developer.

I'm not sure how to answer this in terms of 'pros' and 'cons' on Discutio, but that seems like yet another cool app! I think it's just the way the question is phrased. I kinda hope Steeminc fails but then you need some unifying force to pull everything together and keep it focussed... hm.

Good point. I should have phrased the question better in more of a yes or no form.

Seriously I still dont understand why Steemit is in trouble and what is really happening :( I noticed the changes but still not getting it!

Maybe "gatekeeper" is a good term, here. I'm no crypto expert or blockchain enthusiast, I'm just a content creator seeing a possible opportunity and platform for expression. From what I have seen in the time I have been here, Steemit (the company) as often as not seems to get in its own way of going forward. As an analogy, they may have "invented the wheel," but they seem to know very little of building anything that actually uses wheels.

Again, not really knowing how this works, it seems like this might be an opportunity for the Witnesses to form some sort of "co-op" to take over responsibility for the Steemit social front end and kick some life back into it. There's both coding/developer and marketing/community talent in that pool. Like it or not, Steemit does seem to be the de-facto "public display" of the Steem blockchain and if it goes to see it would reflect poorly on the entire Steem ecosystem, no matter how many great dApps come along.

Bright Blessings!

I'm starting to hope steemit isn't part of the picture

Or at least a much smaller part.

This is the first time I hear of discut.io, so thanks for sharing.
Will check it out.

If the 4GB Witness Node can be delivered, it is going to be a short and easy push from the nest; making it realistic that the community can pick up the slack. A wonderful gift. Wishing Steemit, Inc. every success in the emerging blockchain software industry and hope that steem code may be the basis for other consulting work in their future.

This post has been included in today's SOS Daily News - a digest of all you need to know about the State of Steem.

"Steemit is in financial trouble. They are taking steps to try get out of the situation. " <<< I'd say it's more like they took the money and ran, but I'm glad if you see the glass half full.

Ask me again in 6 months. I feel like the answer will be more obvious.

Right now the big question is where is @ned? After he made his live stream announcement?
In this time reliability and confidence in the decelopment team is the most important factor. And that role is not very well played by Steemit.inc
