At this point, I would view it as a win if Democrats just went back to lying about actually believing in free speech.

The silence is deafening when it comes to the Disinformation Governance Board and it does baffle me that this move isn't universally condemned.

I also find it intriguing that there really isn't much vocal support for the board outside of the people in government who are profiting from it.

Let's pretend for a moment that you, dear reader, are a supporter of this Disinformation Governance Board. You may ask me the pointed question, "Do you support the right of people to spread lies and misinformation without oversight?"
To you, dear reader, my answer is "Yes."

It takes a particular lack of knowledge of history to think that government oversight of supposed misinformation and lies is the most regressive, conservative, oldest idea on earth.

If Twitter were around in the 1700s, John Wilkes certainly would have been silenced by such a Governance Board. If not in his native England, surely, the board would keep him away from our fragile, American eyes.

If Twitter existed in the 1850s, surely this Governance Board would have flagged Frederick Douglass and William Lloyd Garrison and John Brown for, what was largely considered to be disinformation at the time, the radical idea that black people are human and deserve the same rights.

Almost every beautiful truth that we now hold dear was, at one point, viewed as wrong, radical, and offensive. Even a lie can lead us to some truth.
