Beggars of Christ: His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him

The apostle Peter in his second epistle taught us to be spiritual beggars of Christ. Beggars of his perfections, excellences, and promises, because the life of the Christian, that is to say, of the one who accepted Lord Jesus as savior, is a progressive and gradual path towards the gift of eternal life (John 17:3), the contemplative life, and the fruits of the spirit (Galatians 5:22-23), the ultimate goals of human life. The humility of heart is essential if we want to enter the Kingdom of Heaven, the empire of the divine qualities: "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven" Matthew 5:3.
The greatest goods that we can receive, which are the spiritual goods, come from our relationship with the Lord: "Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord" 2 Peter 1:2.
Because material goods, or rather, apparent goods such as money, although they are necessary for good living, are not enough for the true happiness of man, nor should they be the foundation of all our actions. By faith we understand that God through his perfect providence provides us with what is necessary to live, that is why in the Our Father is the request for our daily bread: "His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness" 2 Peter 1:3.
In addition, the gift of righteousness (Matthew 7:12), the life in the grace of God, make us participate in the beatitudes of the Sermon on the Mount, and keeps us from the slavery of the flesh: "Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires" 2 Peter 1:4.
Beggars with a heart of flesh and not of stone, towards our neighbor and our brothers, that is how God wants us, to bless us and prosper us.
