Don't bin your broken toys repair them, it is easy and for this example I will show you how to fix the cabin door on a child's airplane toy.

The door hd broken at the hinge and wouldn't clip back into place so the door was always falling off, with a few items this toy was back in service again.

What you will need is .

1. Super glue (not gel)
2. Baking powder
3. Drill
4. 2mm Drill bit
5. A hair clip

The first step in this little project is to make sure that the place the plastic is missing has somewhere to attach another peg to hold it in place, this door hasn't got anything to hold it so the best thing for me to do is drill a hole.

I use a 2mm drill bit and drill a hole where the peg would have been. I used some blue tack while drilling through the plastic so I didn't drill into my hand. (No hospital tonight yay)

Then I got a paperclip and cut it to size, My idea was to use the paper clip through the whole but after a few attempts It just wasn't possible to hold the weight of the plane door, so I had to think about what else I could use.

Then it hit me, why not use hair clips, these things are a strong flexible metal and are large enough to do the job that I was wanting to do.

Using the paper clip as my measuring tool I cut the hair clip to the right size and placed it through the whole.

Before gluing in place I did a test open and close to see if it worked and it did so I went ahead and glued it down.

After the glue held it in place I then sprinkled some baking soda on to the glue, this is a chemical mix and sets solid, (don't get on hands as it burns like fire, trust me I know first hand about this)

I then slowly added more and more glue and baking powder until it was built up to a good size so it holds the pin in place.

Now the proof was in the pudding, would the cabin door open and close?

You know it did.

And once again the plane can be played with.
