Repainting a black fireplace mantel to a bright white. What a difference!

in diy •  5 years ago

Our fireplace surround had a black faux finish on it that we were tired of. We wanted to lighten up the room and decided to paint it white. We applied 4 coats of Bulls Eye 123 primer and then one coat of the final color. Biggest pointer I can recommend for a project like this is to use quality brushes and rollers to get a smooth, clean finish.

I think the end product turned out awesome and love how it changed the look of the room. What do you think?

I definitely agree that white paint brightens the room a lot. It gives me an idea of the dark paint on our kitchen cabinets. Hmmm, maybe we could repaint it with white. Thank you for the awesome idea! 😊

Yes, kitchen cabinets can be repainted but check with someone who does that professionally. They can be tricky to get right and look good. Thanks for watching.

Oh yes, I definitely agree with that. If they are done unprofessionally, then the outcome may be worse. 😢
