SPOILER ALERT FOR THE TV SHOW THE LAST MAN ON EARTH

On this episode of Survival Tips with Tandy we take a look at Tandy's infamous Toilet Pool and how to build your own and why you probably shouldn't.

How to build your own Toilet Pool

Tools and Materials Needed

  • a keyhole saw or if you have a power supply a handheld jigsaw or sabresaw.

  • a pool with a diving board

  • Toilet Paper (you can never have too much TP)

  • Optional Sandpaper

  • Step 1 : Find a pool with a diving board.

  • Step 2 : Take a keyhole saw, or if you have a power supply, a handheld jigsaw or sabre saw and cut a circle shaped hole at the end the diving board. Insure your hole is large enough for your butt to fit but not too large that your butt falls through or gets stuck. Also make sure your hole is at the end of the diving board that above the water.

  • Optional : Sand the edges of your new toilet hole to give your butt a smoother experience and to avoid splinters.

You may also want to add some privacy hedges or walls since even after the end of the world, you may never know when someone may stop by.

How to clean your Toilet Pool

Now that your Toilet Pool is complete you will want to make sure you know how to keep it clean or as clean as a Toilet Pool can be.

Tools and Material

  • Cleaning chemicals.
At this point you may as well just get what you can find. Just make sure it can be combined with the other chemicals you're using. You're already using a Toilet Pool at this point so safety probably is not your biggest concern.

  • Pool Cleaning Chemicals

  • Waste Collection Buckets

  • Pool leaf skimmer

  • Hazmat Suit

Optional

  • Duct tape in case your hazmat suit rips.

  • Dryer sheets to stick in your nose.

  • Step 1 : Inspect your hazmat suit for any holes and repair as needed. Put on your hazmat suit and make sure everything is zipped up tight.

  • Step 2 : Carefully wade into your Toilet Pool. Don't slip. Use your pool leaf skimmer for support if needed.

  • Step 3 : Skim the solids out of your Toilet Pool and put it in one of your waste containment buckets. Make sure to get it all in a bucket and not on the ground. Carefully get out of your Toilet Pool once youre done skimming. Don't slip!

  • Step 4 : Pour in cleaning chemicals. Mix gently. Don't splash!

  • Step 5 : Top off the water in your Toilet Pool.

  • Step 6 : Pour in the recommended amounts of pool chemicals as stated on the packaging. Make sure to follow all directions properly.

  • Step 7 : Clean up any spillage that may occurred, as well as your tools and other materials you have used.

  • Step 8 : Before removing your hazmat suit rinse yourself off and clean up any mess that was made from doing so. Sanitize anything you came in contact with. Remove your hazmat suit and put it and your other tools and materials away.

Optional

  • Put on your hazmat suit, find a sewage pump, a power supply, and a proper waste receptacle.

  • Pump that the everything out of your Toilet Pool into your waste receptacle and dispose of everything properly.

  • Remove you hazmat suit after decontamination then burn it.

  • Never use your Toilet Pool again. What was wrong with you?

Reasons why not to build your own Toilet Pool

  • It is unsanitary.
  • The smell.
  • There will be a cesspool of human waste.
  • Your neighbors may come together and demand you clean it.

Other things to use instead of a Toilet Pool

  • a latrine
  • cat holes (dig a hole every time you need to poop and bury it)
  • build an outhouse
  • waste receptacle bags
  • buckets that can be sealed safely

PLEASE DO NOT MAKE A TOILET POOL

I don't know, it seems like the benefits of a toilet pool greatly outweigh the cons.

Or...

Maybe....

Is this your pool?

I recommend checking out my old post on cleaning a pool with algae.

I avoid the pool store method as it is far more expensive and less effective.

This is the greatest thing I have ever seen
