DIY Marbled Bowls + Some Fails

in diy •  7 years ago

These bowls were not all that easy at first but if at first you don't succeed try try again. Once I got the hang of it I was quite excited at the unique designs I ended up with on my bowls! The technique that was used to create these bowls is much like that of water-marbling when painting your nails.

Here is the final product

Materials

-Nail polish (without glitter. I know the ones in the picture have glitter but those ended up not going very well...)
-Bowls (I even attempted a plate)
-A bin of water
(I got all of my supplies from the dollar store!)

Step One

In your bin of water dump half the bottle of the nail polish in a zig-zag motion. The nail polish should be floating. Allow it to slowly spread on top of the water.

Step Two

Take your bowl and dunk it half way into the water. I took mine out of the water at an angle.

Step Three

Allow your bowl to dry and your marbled bowls are finished!!

This DIY ended up being SUPER messy but it was worth it... three days later once I got all the nail polishoff my hands and the house no longer stunk. ;)
To prove tutorials are not always done perfectly the first try here are the first few attempts that failed miserably;

Is it safe? Does it really work?? Coz wow! Its really amazing.

You may get a tad headache from the smell of nail polish but that's all! And yes it really works! I would just make sure you wash it first and try not to put your polish on the inside of the bowl.

Ok. Thank you.

That really looks like a lot of fun to do! Steem on!
