Today I'll show you that you can make fairly nice art with cheap art supplies. I'll be using my character Miss Penelope as an example model.
The supplies I am using here is a Pacon sketchbook, pencil, Papermate flair medium pen, Crayola pencils, Supertips Crayola marker, Sharpie fine tip, Zebra highlighter and a Permanent marker from the Dollar Tree. It doesn't take much to make decent art.
(
We will first make a light sketch with our pencil. You have to make sure you are careful with how much pressure you put down so that when we come back to erase, it will be a neat clean up. After penciling, you want to go ahead and start inking with the Papermate pen.
(
Once the drawing is inked, we clean up the pencil lines and it should come out like this when you let the inking dry for an hour before you go erasing the pencil lines so there aren't any smudges. Now you might have noticed the X's I've put down. Well, that's where the black fill in with the permanent marker will go.
()
As you can see we've filled in the spaces and it's really popping out with the black background behind her. It'll make the colors really stand out because now we can begin coloring.
()
In the final step of the process, we take our Crayola super tip marker and color in her dress and bow. You can use any color you want, but make sure you have some newspaper or cardboard behind the paper so it doesn't bleed through. We'll also color in her hair with the Zebra highlighter and last we add in some shading with the Sharpie fine point marker. As you can see, I placed some little blushes with the Crayola pencil and gave her eyes a little shadow with a blue Crayola pencil.
I hope you guys have enjoyed this process. If you would like to request another art process on something, just let me know in the comments below.
