How to Make Deodorant That Really Works

in diy •  8 years ago

You will still sweat...go ahead and embrace it. It's a healthy, normal and necessary bodily function. But you will never smell bad. You will smell a bit like a citronella candle. This deodorant withstands 5+ hours of teaching dance and a full day outside in the summer heat and humidity. I love it!

  • 4 tbsp coconut oil
  • 4 tbsp arrowroot powder
  • 4 tbsp baking soda
  • 20 drops Purification Oil
  • 20 drops Thieves Oil

Put the coconut oil in first, then add the drops of the essential oils. Mix the dry ingredients in last. Add more arrowroot powder for a dryer consistency. Add more coconut oil for a creamier consistency. If you have sensitive skin substitute 2 tbsp of the baking soda for more arrowroot powder. Because it's coconut oil based it will liquify in heat. If this bothers you keep it in the fridge or somewhere cool.

I mix mine in the Kitchen Aid mixer. You can mix it in a bowl, food processor or make smaller batches in the container you will be using it out of.

This picture is so bad it's cracking me up...hello staggered lines of used up stuff. :) But hey, you can see the ingredients.
