As the old saying go's, 'If you want it done right, do it yourself'.
Who needs bloated government spending when there's a handy 73-year-old Canadian with DIY skills?
When locals were told a desperately needed set of stairs at a park in Toronto would cost the tax payers a minimum of $65k, a retired mechanic took matters into his own hands and built the steps HIMSELF for $550 in 14 hours!
“I thought, ‘This was ridiculous,’” Astl told TODAY upon hearing from city officials that the project could even go as high as $150,000. “You could build an escalator for that much.”
As it now turns out, the city said that the cost affective stairs will now need to be torn down due to safety reasons, BUT Will be replaced by the city.
Either way, I think this 'see something wrong, make it right' thing should be seen and done more often.
Good on him!
It's a sad world we live in @tiffany367 when good will is torn down for fear of lawsuits. Thankfully we still have some good people around. 😊
