Id say at least once but usually several times a weekend a girl will walk up and want me to announce that it's someone birthday.
It's cool to do, but you can definitely mess up a vibe, especially when you signal to other people that you announce birthdays.
One birthday may turn into seven real quick then you're an asshole for not doing it.
On top of all that god only knows the shit people may want you to announce, a lost phone, keys, friends.
The only time a mic may come in handy is if your music cuts out or software fails, it might buy you some time but even at that, it's best just to ignore that mic jack.
