This will be the biggest test for Tesla and it electric car. Europe has been waiting for the alternative to the petrol engine for many years due to the huge cost of fuel. Unlike the US where fuel is still relatively cheap European cost are high
So although the cost of the Model 3 is quite high I think many firms will quickly adopt them as fleet cars for the long term savings. Of Elon Musk can keep up with the demand. This will be his year and the year when Electic vehicles start to take over from outdated fosil fuels. Look out OPEC your day maybe coming sooner than you think.
As of writing this, there are hundreds of millions of dollars/euros worth of Tesla Model 3 vehicles on several giant ships in the Atlantic ocean heading to European ports. The first one has arrived…

How come I have big doubts about that? Belgium has a lack of electricity and each Dutch household has to pay for that about 340 euro this year extra.
Our government wants us to heath our houses on???? Instead of gas, same with the cooking. By now 1 kwh costs 33 cents at least without taxes....

No change is easy. Especially when large oil company profits are threatened. Sure electricity price vary around the world. But slowly but surely renawable sorces if energy are becoming mainstream especially in Germany where a huge investment has be made into solar electic. Yes it will take time but one thing is for sure the production of oil must start to decline over the next few years and alternatives will have to be found. The future of Our planet relys on that taking place. So yes it won't always be easy and cheap..and it maybe up to the individual to invest in their own energy source, that has already begun it just needs a little extra push.

Invest in your own energy source ... money is needed for that even a lot of money. If you invest in solar panels you will not even get your investment back in the first years! By now it is even so our government asks taxes over the energy you get with your sonar panels and you do not use.
I think it is way better to reduce the consumption. To start with all these companies and shops (lights off), less paper and plastics etc (as I was a kid it was not needed either and most people have a fridge now). I can remember we had an iron trash can it was emptied once a week. Now (small) families have 3-4 different ones 4 times the size of that :(
Might be Germany is ahead of other countries, but most people do not live their plus they drive like nuts.
If it comes to the planet... mother Nature will find a way... and start again. There have been ice times, periods it been too hot

Alternatives are there but the government simply wants to earn. Cars can drive on sunflower oil, water, etc.
Holland has plenty of ways to make energy out of water, wind, etc
Noticed most of those windmills in Europe are not working at all.
I agree we should reduce the use of oil... which is needed to produce plastic, cars, etc etc. Simply because we waste too much but also because being manipulated by certain people should stop.

Thsnks for both your replys.. I think basically we are on the same page. It is all about waste a d greed.
Wr have had our own electric supply for 3 years now we don't have any connection to the mains supply so no tax for us. We will break even next year. The cost isn't as high as most people are lead to beleive. Of course the size of the system you needs depends on how many hours of sunlight you expect daily.
There are many alternatives to oil, as you say and the most guarded is water.
Biofuel maybe the cheap answer now but when oil runs out the Biotec companies will still own the corn oil etc through their GM patented grain.
Plastic has become one of this centuries worst problems and also needs to be addrssed and replaced with renewables and biodegradable products like hemp and seaweed.
There is a local initiative here. New huge wind turbines are slowly replacing the old diesel powered generators. Two of these turbines can provide one large village with enough power so for us electicly powerd vehicles will be the future lowering local polution on our beautiful islands. We don't have to stand back and wait for Mother nature to destroy us if we just take some some big decisions now. The future is really up to us.
