it is estimated that more than 60% of web traffic is fake.  This affects the totals that platforms promote to advertisers.  On youtube, "view" can be bought to increase the numbers on a particular video.  This will increase the price that an advertisers pays.  A similar situation is happening on Facebook.  The numbers are inflated because bots are pretending to be people, people pretending to be other people, and people pretending to be bots.
