To stay healthy and fit, inflammation, free radicals and antioxidants play important roles. Free radicals are what causes inflammation in our body. Antioxidants are what reduces the free radicals and therefore help prevent inflammation.
Inflammation per se is not a problem because it helps the body to fight against illnesses and can therefore protect it from harm. It is part of the healing process. However, chronic inflammation is a problem as it leads to an accumulation of free radical damage of cells resulting in diseases such as Parkinson's. Alzheimer's and atherosclerosis.
We can prevent inflammation in our body by following certain rules. Certain foods and habits are known to generate free radicals. Avoid them. Certain other foods are known. to reduce the free radicals in our body. These are food that are rich in antioxidants.
