The baseball sign stealing scandal claimed another casualty.
Alex Cora was a coach with the Astros in 2017 when the sign stealing took place. Baseball handed down its ruling on Monday. A day later, Cora, who was the manager of the Red Sox the last two seasons, was let go by the team.
Boston is mired in its own scandal now. The 2018 world champions are alleged to use technology to get signs during games. This supposedly happened during the regular season and not in the playoffs.
Cora was let go for a numbers of reasons. At the top of the list is that he is likely to receive a penalty that is harsher than the GM and Manager of the Astros got. Both were suspended for the season and were promptly fired by the Astros.
