The Boston Red Sox are doing something that is uncharacteristic for them. They are looking to unload salary.
At the top of the list is Mookie Betts. He agreed to a one year deal for $27 million. The former MVP is a free agent after the 2020 season meaning he is the ideal candidate to be traded. A high priced player in his walk year is not attractive to a team looking to cut payroll.
A team that never worries about payroll is the Dodgers. Reports are the Red Sox and Dodgers are in talks about a trade for Betts. The team is also interested in unloading the contract of David Price.
