Yasmani Grandal bet on himself last off season.  He was offered a reported $60 million over 4 years by the New York Mets.  The offered was turned down and Grandal took a one year deal from the Milwaukee Brewers for the qualifying offer of $18 million.

Again a free agent, he now is cashing in.  He has agreed to a deal with the Chicago White Sox for $73 million.  The deal is a 4 year agreement.  This puts his total, including last year, at 5 years, $91 million.

He helped lead the Brewers to the playoffs, something that might be difficult with the White Sox.  They are mired as one of the worst teams in the AL Central.  The advantage is that it is a relatively weak division meaning some changes could alter the division race.

The White Sox are reported to be in the hunt for free agent pitcher Zack Wheeler.
