A 5.3 magnitude earthquake hit parts of Mindanao at 8:37 p.m. Tuesday with the epicenter traced at Makilala, North Cotabato.

In its latest earthquake bulletin, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the earthquake was tectonic in origin.

Its location pointed to 06.93°N, 125.02°E - 008 km S 71° W of Makilala with a depth of focus at 005 kilometers.
