Fallen.io, a short animated data-driven documentary about war and peace, explores the harrowing statistics of World War II and sizes up its numbers to other wars in history, including recent conflicts.

The world is not going to hell in a hand basket after all. The numbers show very clearly that not even the 20th century with its two world wars was as violent and deadly as the more distant past.

If a very sad story of our silent decadent. and the worst thing is that we are always at the door of a war.

The world has become more connected, a thousand witnesses to every major and minor event can tell their version of the story like never before. A personal story, a personal pain shared and understood.

If one looks at the world and sees a lot of suffering, it's not because there's more suffering than ever before -- in the virtual world a tragedy is always at your fingertips.
And I can't blame those who become listless and desensitized to it -- our minds have not been created with a limitless capacity for empathy. The cure for this ill can only be found in forming a connection to and receiving sympathy from another being, not even necessarily human. To give warmth, one must occasionally receive it as well.

Oh, uh, I've gone off on another one of my rants just like that. :) What I wanted to say is:

Hi markku. I am going to watch this. We have similar interests.

The video is very informative. And it's quite amazing how you can create such effective drama from visualizing some numbers.

Interesting documentary, especially for those who love the details of those historical events
