We have been dependent on short message service (SMS) for texting for years. When it first launched in 1992, it was a game-changer. Over the years, though, we have become sick of its 160-character-length cap and its inability to work and play well through internet connections. And, as a bigger, better replacement, Rich Communication Services (RCS) was introduced in 2007. It wasn't a lot of a splash.

It is amazing that in some regards, we are still using technology that is 25 years old. SMS is the standard still. When will it be replaced?

This could be the next wave in technology advancement.
