For some wearable device manufacturers the new year is not getting off to a great start. The US International Trade Commission has agreed to investigate the claims of Philips ' patent infringement lawsuits by Fitbit, Garmin, Ingram Micro dealer, and two Chinese producers (Inventec, and Maintek). The Fitbit and Garmin devices are allegedly infringing technology like activity tracking, alarm reporting and motion sensing. Philips maintained that for three years he had been negotiating with the companies before the talks broke apart and forced his hand.
