The Philadelphia Phillies got their man.
It was announced on Thursday that Girardi will be the next manager of the Phillies. He will replace Gabe Kapler who was fired after two disappointing seasons.
The Phillies were intent on hiring someone experienced to replace the inexperienced Kapler. In addition to Girardi, they interviewed Buck Showalter and Dusty Baker.
Of the three, it was reported that Girardi was at the top of their list.
The Mets were also rumored to be in Joe. He interviewed with them twice and was interested in the job. It appears that Girardi wanted the issue settled and the Mets were dragging their feet.
